Maintenance & care :

After its soak, turn the sieve upside down under running water. If you have a dishwasher, you could use it at this point—but beware that larger food bits from other dishes can get lodged in the sieve. Otherwise, scrubbing it by hand is the most effective (if more time-consuming) way.
